How to Convert Word to PDF

  1. Choose your Word file. Select a .docx document or drop it on the box above.
  2. Pick the quality. High gives sharp text for screens and most printing. Use Print for professional printing, or Standard when a small file matters most.
  3. Choose the page size if you need A4 or US Letter instead of the size set in the document.
  4. Select Convert to PDF and download. A preview of every page appears so you can check the result.

Have an older .doc file? Open it in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice, choose Save As → Word Document (.docx), then convert the new file.

How does Felx Word to PDF work?

A .docx file is a bundle of XML describing paragraphs, styles, tables and pictures. Felx reads it with the open-source docx-preview library and lays each page out in an isolated area of your browser, using the page size, margins, headers and footers from the document.

Word only decides where pages break when it opens a file, so not every document says where its pages end. Felx measures the laid-out content and splits pages between paragraphs and between table rows – long tables continue neatly on the next page instead of being cut through a row.

Each page is then captured at the quality you chose and placed in a PDF. Felx also adds an invisible text layer word by word, positioned over the page, so you can search the PDF, select text and copy it. Bullets that rely on Symbol or Wingdings fonts are swapped for standard characters so they appear on every device.

Prefer a PDF with fully vector text? After converting, select Print or save as vector PDF and choose “Save as PDF” in your browser’s print dialog.

Your document is converted on your device and is not uploaded to Felx servers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my formatting be kept?

Fonts, bold and italic text, colours, tables, images, numbered and bulleted lists, headers, footers and footnotes are all kept. Very advanced layouts – such as text wrapped tightly around shapes, SmartArt or tracked changes – may differ slightly from Word.

Why does the font look different from Word?

If a font used in the document is not installed on your device, your browser uses the closest match. Where they are installed, metric-compatible fonts are used for Calibri, Cambria, Arial, Times New Roman and Courier New so that line breaks stay the same. For an exact match, convert on a computer that has the document’s fonts.

Can I search and copy text in the PDF?

Yes, as long as Make text searchable and selectable is ticked (it is by default). This works for English and other Latin-script text.

Does it work with .doc files?

Not directly. The older .doc format is a closed binary format. Save the file as .docx in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice first – it takes a few seconds.

Is there a page limit?

There is no fixed limit. Documents with hundreds of pages work, but take longer on phones. The maximum file size is 50 MB.
