How to Convert PDF to Word
- Choose your PDF. Felx reads it and shows how many pages it has.
- Pick a mode. Exact layout keeps every line where it was, on top of the original lines, boxes and logos. Flowing text rebuilds the content as normal Word paragraphs and tables.
- Optionally choose pages, for example
1-3or2,5. Leave the box empty to convert everything. - Select Convert to Word and download the .docx file. It opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice and WPS Office.
Not sure which mode to choose? Use Exact layout for invoices, bills, certificates, forms and brochures. Use Flowing text for letters, reports, contracts and articles you plan to rewrite.
How does Felx PDF to Word work?
A PDF stores where each piece of text is drawn, not paragraphs or tables. Felx reads every text fragment with Mozilla’s PDF.js – its position, size, font and colour – and rebuilds the document from those pieces.
Exact layout
Felx paints each page without its text, which leaves a clean background of table lines, shaded boxes, logos and photos. That background is placed behind the page in Word, and every line of text is put back at its original position in an editable text frame. The result looks like the PDF, yet you can click into any line and change it.
Flowing text
Text fragments are grouped into lines and lines into paragraphs. Larger type becomes headings, so Word’s navigation pane works. Text arranged in aligned columns becomes a real Word table, including shaded header rows. Pictures are cropped from the page and placed where they appeared, and repeating page headers and footers become real Word headers and footers with live page numbers.
Fonts
Many PDFs embed fonts under anonymous names such as “F1”. Felx measures how thick and slanted the letters actually are, so bold and italic text is detected even then. It also matches the width of each line, so text takes up the same space as in the PDF.
Conversion happens on your device. Your PDF is not uploaded to Felx servers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which mode should I use?
Exact layout for anything where the look matters – invoices, bills, forms, certificates, menus, brochures. Flowing text when you want to rewrite or reuse the text – letters, reports, contracts, articles.
Can I convert a scanned PDF?
A scanned page is a photo of text, so there is no text to extract. Felx adds scanned pages to the Word file as pictures and tells you how many there were. To edit the words in a scan, they first need OCR (text recognition).
Are tables converted into Word tables?
In Flowing text mode, yes – columns of aligned text become a Word table with the original cell shading. In Exact layout the table keeps its exact look, with the lines in the background and editable text in each cell.
Will the fonts be the same?
Felx uses the font named in the PDF, such as Arial, Calibri or Times New Roman. When a PDF hides the real font name, Felx picks a close match and still keeps bold, italic, size and colour.
Does it work with Hindi and other languages?
Text in any language is copied into Word. For Indian scripts the accuracy depends on how the PDF was created; some PDFs store Devanagari in a way that cannot be read back perfectly by any converter.
Why does it say my PDF is protected?
The file is encrypted with a password. Remove the password in the program that created it, then convert the unlocked copy.
