How to Convert JPG to PNG
- Choose one or more JPG files. They appear in a list with their sizes.
- Select Convert to PNG. Each image is converted on your device.
- Download. Save each PNG individually, or choose Download all (ZIP) when you have converted more than one.
Expect the PNG to be larger than the JPG. That is normal: PNG stores every pixel exactly, while JPG uses lossy compression.
How does Felx JPG to PNG work?
Felx decodes the JPG in your browser into raw pixels, then saves those pixels using the PNG format, which is lossless. The dimensions and appearance of the image stay exactly the same, and photos taken sideways on a phone are turned the right way up.
Converting to PNG does not improve quality or remove existing JPG artefacts — it preserves the image as it is now. It is useful when software or a website requires PNG, or when you plan to edit the image several times and do not want each save to add more JPG compression.
PNG supports transparency, but a JPG has none to carry over, so the converted image has a solid background. Your files are processed on your device and are not uploaded to Felx servers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the PNG bigger than my JPG?
PNG is lossless and stores far more information than a compressed JPG. A PNG of a photo is commonly three to ten times larger.
Will converting make the background transparent?
No. A JPG has no transparency, so the PNG keeps the same solid background. Removing a background needs an image editor.
Does conversion improve image quality?
No. It keeps the current quality exactly, but cannot restore detail that JPG compression already removed.
How many images can I convert at once?
Up to 30 images per batch, each up to 40 MB.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Conversion happens in your browser.
