How to Remove the Background from a Photo
- Choose a photo. Portraits, products, pets and logos work best when the subject is clearly in front of the background.
- Wait a few seconds. The AI finds the subject and erases everything else. The first time, the model loads once; after that it is instant.
- Pick a new background – transparent, white, blue for ID photos, or any colour – and use “Hold to compare” to check the edges.
- Download. Transparent backgrounds download as PNG; coloured backgrounds as JPG.

How does the Felx background remover work?
Felx uses U²-Net, an open-source neural network trained to find the main subject in a picture. Your browser runs the network with WebAssembly, produces a mask that marks every pixel as subject or background, and uses that mask to cut the subject out at the full resolution of your photo.
The model file is downloaded from Felx once and then cached by your browser. Your photo itself never leaves your device – there is no upload, no queue and nothing stored on our side.
Very busy backgrounds, glass and fine hair can still need a touch-up in a photo editor, but most portraits and product shots come out clean.
